This is not typical of a team leader on the production line, but this is not an issue for Mara Koleva: “Sometimes you have to go back to the source of the work to understand the basics.” She wishes to lead by example and also show her team that she knows what she’s talking about. Doing so helps her to relate to and understand the concerns and challenges facing her staff: “I can only ask people to do things that I have tried myself with my own hands”, explains Koleva.
